Goa MSMEs can save ₹4-15 Lakh Yearly: IIT Ropar reveals RAMP audit opportunity

CREED-IIT Ropar was represented at the National Seminar on MSME Empowerment, held on January 8 at Kakulo Mall, Panaji, and organized by MSME-DFO Goa and GCCI. Dr. Vignesh K, Energy Manager, representing CREED-IIT Ropar, delivered a speaking opportunity, showcasing CREED-IIT Ropar’s expertise in energy efficiency and decarbonization for MSMEs.
Standing before Goa’s manufacturing leaders, they shared a vision that felt personal: every MSME here isn’t just a business, but a family operation pouring heart into creating jobs, serving customers, and building our state’s future.
They laid out Goa’s extraordinary opportunity with clarity that hit home. Nationwide, 63.4 million MSMEs consume 135 TWh electricity yearly, leaving ₹48-80,000 crore in recoverable savings. For Goa’s pharma, F&B, engineering, and steel units, that’s ₹4-15 lakhs wasted annually per facility – real money slipping away invisibly while owners focus on what matters most: production and people.
Through RAMP-subsidized audits (50% government-funded via DITC), Goa MSMEs can unlock ₹4-35 lakhs annual savings with just less than 1 year payback.
And with DITC’s authorization CREED-IIT Ropar conducting water and energy audits in Goa, project headed by Dr. S. Manigandan, Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Ropar, managed by Mr. Prabhu Vijayakumaran, project manager, CREED-IIT Ropar and the executed and lead in Goa by Dr. Vignesh K, Energy Manager, CREED-IIT Ropar.
Seeing Goa’s manufacturers grasp this potential – eyes lighting up at the numbers, nodding at the practicality – reminded us all why energy auditing is important. CREED-IIT Ropar didn’t just present data; they showed what’s possible when engineering meets opportunity.
